AlaskanWolf God just so happens to hate me. :D
How I did it: My Mom wanted to take us to a fantastic place for vacation before School ended. She's been to New Orleans before, but that was when Katrina was coming, so she left on the last plane. My dad had enough airfare and hotel points to take us there virtually for free. Read how I did it…

How I did it: My best friend and I decided we needed to take a vacation. We bought a flight and hotel package on priceline.com for super cheap for the time during fall break at our university. It was awesome. We walked all over that city. We ate great food, had yummy drinks, shopped and browsed to our hearts' content and had a prolonged discussion with the underage barback at our hotel. I’m supposed to go with Alissa on fall break and I’m totally excited.
New Orleans was fantastic! I went for a week the November after my daughter Ariel was born – a kind of “congratulations, you made it through pregnancy and the first six months!” trip (I also had a wedding in Shreveport to attend the weekend after I’d left Texas). My first night there, my friend Frank took me to a dueling piano bar. Since I drove I had my car with me, and during the day when Frank was at work I explored. We did different things every night, but the highlights, for me, were…
1. The dueling piano bar.
2. Walking in the French Quarter.
3. Eating beignets with hot chocolate at Cafe du Monde next to the river.
4. Eating at this adorable little outdoor cafe.

My sister is going to Tulane University in the fall and I would love to visit the city! Perfect excuse. I also plan on doing a Habitat for Humanity trip at the end of the summer.
The music, the food, the culture, the experience! Plus, haven’t been on a vacation in over 6 years without my kids.
I want to experience Marti Gra, Fat Tuesday, Cacjun cooking, and other historical things in New Orleans.
I went way before Katrina. I’m not sure it’s worth doing now but if it’s anywhere close to the way it was then, it should be interesting.
