start an etsy store

I have been a stay at home mom most of my marriage (21 years)My husband has been in the jewelry business for quite some time. I’m very creative and wanted a channel to express my creativity. My goal was to get my TakeItPersonalDesign up and running on etsy. The true realization of my goal will come with my first sale. After that the sky is the limit! Please stop by… Who knows you could be my 1st customer.

I need to order some supplies and start testing my idea. I don’t have extra money right now to do so, but I am researching suppliers so that in October, when I have an extra paycheck, I can order my supplies and start producing!

Right now, I am working on sketching designs so that when my supplies come, I can put them to use right away. Woo-hoo!

Well, I finally came up with an idea that is unique and I think will be popular. I’m not going to say what it is in the interest of keeping it unique for as long as possible. Now that I have a solid idea, I need to start developing my product. That’s step two, I suppose. Yay! I’m glad I’m getting somewhere on this goal, even if it’s still in the “thought” stage.

I’ve always been very creative and talented, but I have a bad habit of going all directions. One day I paint, one day I sculpt, another I make little people out of foam clay and colorful paper clips…I’ve always had a problem of focus, even when I was in art school. I’ve had success selling my art in the past, but I want to focus on one type of thing, or maybe two for my etsy store. So, I have to figure out what I can commit to and enjoy doing on a regular basis.

My second problem is that many of the thigns I do already have twenty sellers on etsy. Once I decide what I want to do, I need to make it better than everyone else…competition is ok, but it’s hard to stand out on a website like etsy.

Mini-goal 1: Find a marketable product.

I want to provide custom handwriting services for people. I can write out wedding invitations, announcements, mailings, holiday cards, etc. I have excellent handwriting and have done this for my friends … I might as well get paid for it. I can try.

I have been printing up a storm for the past couple of days. I’m such a perfectionist that I need everything to be just right before I start posting things up

I did come up with a name for my business which will be mainly greeting cards, notes, stationery sets, and handmade buttons.

The name of my business is Twenty Two, which is my lucky number.

I’m really excited about this, since it’s something I have wanted to do for a long time and I’m finally taking steps towards it.

a small store with stationery & colorful cards

well, i’d like to start an etsy store but i think you need a paypal account, therefore i have to be at least 18…

so i’ve got a year to go, which is totally fine because i definetly don’t have time or money to play around with before i go on my trip.

and it gives me time to make lots of it! i’m getting much better at making clean and cohesive sets of stationery, so that’s handy dandy.
