grow my own organic food

Yesterday I had a meal whose ingredients included leeks and mushrooms that I’d grown myself so I’m marking this as done. My allotment is slowly taking shape and I’m due some goodies from it’s earth in a few months time. :D

It’s coming up to sowing season. Last week I sowed Leeks, Onions, Jalapenos, 6 different types of tomatos and 2 different types of Basil. I also put my potato’s out to chit and have started a button mushroom kit off as well. I also finally got a greenhouse as well. :D

Today I bought some more seed trays with propagator lids ready for February. :D

My Garlic is coming up a treat as well. :D

Months ago, whilst doing my grocery shopping I bought 3 bulbs of organic garlic. Basically I left them in the fridge until the other day when I noticed that a lot of them had sprouted. Today I sperated the cloves into two piles, those which had sprouted and those which hadn’t and took the sprouted ones to the allotment today and buried them. Hopefully in a good few months time I’ll have about 15-22 new bulbs of garlic in the ground and will never have to buy garlic ever againb. :P

My allotment has been really neglected lately. That much so I got a letter off the council telling me to sort it out or lose it. Therefore I asked a friend if she’d help me run it and we went to visit it today. We were only there for 2 hours but we cleared loads and I discovered the leek seedlings that I had planted a few months back have grew. I thought they would have died/been eaten by snails by now but nope. They’re there and growing loads. I’m all motivated again now. :D

allotment. I’m in the process of clearing the plot and setting everything up ready for next year. I’ve got some seedlings to go in the ground in a few weeks time and today I planted some leeks that I was given a neighbour on my site. I’m planning on going to the plot again tomorrow to finish planting the leeks and the lettuce that I have too. I need to hire a petrol strimmer to get rid of some of the overgrown weeds and plan to bribe some pals, armed with spades to help dig the rest of the plot over. I need a load of carpet to act as multch too. :P

And yeay for organic slug pellets. :D
