I was happy somebody wanted it other than just me. :)
How to give things away
How I did it: At least once a year, I go through and box up everything that I don't use. This includes clothes, electronics, and anything that I haven't used in months. Many places accept these donations. Where I live now, I even have a place that picks up goods from your home monthly.
Lessons & tips: --Go through your closet, attic, garage, etc, and pull out everything you haven't used in the last three months. Donate it!
--This goes double for you people who have a closet FULL of outfits but only wear a few of them over and over. :-).
--If it has dust on it, it's time to give it away where SOMEONE can get some use out of it.
--Donate items that can still be used. Don't donate your trash. If you have an item that is in too poor shape to donate, try recycling it. Worst case: it will have to just be thrown away.

And it felt so good that I want to do it again. She offered to pay me for it and I said, “Why don’t I just give it to you?” She was really surprised and happy. The next week I went to her house and installed the software on her computer and showed her how to download the pictures and take movies with the camera. She had taken lots of photos of her grandchildren. :)
I have now given away 6 lots on freecycle and I am considering this goal done. My new goal is to freecycle 43 things…. 37 to go!
I have listed five lots of stuff and four are already spoken for. Hopefully I am getting smarter about making this work – I specified the pick up time in the ad this time. Now I just have to hope that they show up!
My night table was finally picked up yesterday morning. I already have another half a dozen things to list on freecycle, but I’ll wait until Thursday so that I can arrange weekend pickups.
Well, neither of the people who emailed me the first time came to pick up the night table. I have posted it again and already got a new person lined up. Here’s hoping the third one’s a charm!
Hope that the process is smooth and painless…
This isn’t quite going to achieve my other goal of owning less stuff since I bought a replacement, but at least I will keep the growth down.
My books fill the bookshelves. Bursting. And at the rate that I read, if I started today, I could never finish them all in my lifetime. Therefore, my desire will be to give away one hundred of them or maybe just fifty. I will write down all the titles of the books I give away, then when I feel that sense of loss, I can reassure myself. This could be a very do-able 43 Things to complete.
