Not be paranoid

Someone tried to break into my house with a butcher knife almost a year ago. They DIDN’T make it in which is important, right? I’m 23, I live alone, and I’m sad to say I haven’t gotten over it yet. I’m TONS better than I was, but some things still make me hella nervous. Like the fact that the guy still lives in my neighborhood. But the fact is, he won’t come again, cause if he does he’ll be packed away for a good long time and he’s on probation for the next 4 years. Hopefully he comes to some sort of epiphany by then. I’d like to believe myself, and others, when they tell me how safe I am in my house.
