Only in Laredo

could there be a Society of Martha Washington. They have a month long celebration here with parades, carnivals, balls, galas, cocktail receptions, etc. The debutantes are all dressed in these enormous 18th century ball gowns that can weigh up to 85 pounds and cost in the $30,000 range. National Geographics did an article about it a couple of years ago. You can find it here http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2006/11/laredo/swartz-text
Anyways, I absolutely love getting dressed up in formals. It makes me feel so feminine and beautiful. I always thought Vanna White had the perfect job because she got to wear a beautiful evening gown every day.
Watch out Laredo… I have a red dress that’s to die for!

Decided having a wedding renewal ceremony would be more satisfying. May or may not go to the ball this fall—dont know if i want to spend money on a dress and shoes and accessories and all that crap, when I will need money for the renewal.

I want the whole thing…the dress, the shoes, the up-do hair, the escort. I don’t know who on earth is going to invite me to one, or where it will be, but those are small details to be worked out later. Are balls seen as outdated? I honestly hope not, they’re too beautiful to be old fashioned.

...but I don’t know many posh people. I’m hoping some rich bloke will fancy a bit of rough and take me out. I’m fully house-trained but a bit left-wing (and a vegetarian).
Failing that, if anyone rich/poor, male/female, old/young fancies going to a ball with me where I can wear a full length dress and not feel self conscious, give me a shout.
