I’d like to do more volunteer work, especially in “My Father’s House”.
My goal: visit the orphanage at least once every two weeks.

i have been a guide leader for 3 years (cant really stop as the unit will close without me as its quite a disadvantaged area) but i want to do a bit more such as help with soup kitchens etc….
i have also helped in a old folks home… ie reading to the residents and basically just giving them a bit of social interaction.
i still want to do more though…not sure what though….

I have put in a submission to Volunteer Illawarra to read with kids on a Monday morning during the school terms next year. I am thinking between that, giving blood and the charity fundraisers I am doing next year by the end of 2009 – I’ll be able to mark this off my list!

I also held (within my workplace… but I was a primary organiser) a Girls Night In to raise money for women’s cancers.
We raised a little under $400. It all helps!

I have now committed to giving blood every 3 months…. Is this considered doing charity work? Well it’s a good thing regardless!

As a team we raised in excess of $2000 and walked about 1000km.
Yay us
More charities to come.

I have just registered myself in the Illawarra 2008 Relay For Life which will be held on 20/09/2008. Relay For Life is a fundraising event for The Cancer Council to help defeat cancer. Funds raised through Relay For Life are spent on cancer research, education, support services and advocacy. By clicking on link below you can donate money towards my team fundraising and also learn more about the event.
