increase my salary

I just received a pay increase, but considering how long before that I have had my (very low!) salary, it’s just not enough. And I don’t know if I can get any more at my current job. I’m also not very confident that I could find another job, since I don’t have any real education, just kind of learning by doing.

Well, I need to do something about the situation and soon! I want to be able to get an apartment and start feeling at least a bit financially secure. Something needs to happen by fall. As I see it I have three options:

1. Get a significant pay increase at my current job. From 2200 euro to 2500 euro (just received an increase from 2000 to 2200).
Does not feel highly likely.

2. Get a new job with a higher salary. The best and “easiest” way to a pay increase is to switch jobs. As I wrote above, don’t feel very confident about that…

3. Go back to university, get my degree (in literature! there are no jobs with those qualifications anyways!!) and try to get a job after that. This option obviously will take some planning and waiting…

I just do the opposite – I had to change jobs and now I start with a job in a really cool library with great stock, but with less salary. I really would earn more being a cashier in a supermarket.

My previous employer would not pay me what I’m worth, so I quit my office job on a leap of faith not really knowing what I was going to do next. It was rough for a while temping here and there and doing odd jobs, but by keeping my mind and opportunities open I’ve landed a dream job. I work 10-15 hours less than what I used to, and I’m pulling in over $10 more an hour with a yearly salary increase of about 16%. I’ve reached my salary goal working fewer hours a week and working with wonderful people in a really amazing environment. Not to mention a really generous boss who never hesitates to tell me how much of a rock star I am.

Finally.

I increased my salary about 30%, I need more, more, more :)

I’m still aiming to increase my salary… but it’s a slow process.

I’m not going down without a fight though….

I know that I am worth more than I am paid at the moment in my present job….my goal is to at least double what I earn right now, but ideally Triple my salary by the end of the year…

This shouldn’t be hard to do, because if I was to try and live on what I earn now, the numbers simply don’t add up.

Watch this space cos I’m gonna do it! When I do… I won’t tell you what I’m earning… but I will be setting the goal again…
