Become an MCP

I will get a pay rise if I pass one of these. Any tips on which one is the easiest? I’m not sure how to go out starting one either.

its cool how you get certified for .net (c#), and they also lable you a MICROSOFT CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL, yeah, thats dorky

It’s multiple choice, but you have to know what you’re doing… whichever MCP exam you take. I’ve done 5, I’m an MCSA:Messaging on Windows 2000 and 2003 – and it’s all been worth it. I’ve used the exams as a way to change career, b showing potential at first, then widening my skills until I got a better Systems Admin job, and then by deepening the knowledge I need to do my job better.

A hint: learn as much as you can before taking any practice tests. Do one test when you think you’re ready and work on the things you fail on. Learn the little things – exceptions that they like to catch you out on, etc – that the tests throw up. You just might get a few familiar angles on the real test.

And avoid braindumps – if you’re setting yourself a goal on this site, you surely don’t want to fake it.

Just tested today and definitely hoping it’ll help me gt a good job with computers. Now it’s time to work on my MCDST!

Pretty cool subject, I think. Definately worth it for .NET developers – these days, who doesn’t have to work with an sql database most of the time?

Exam wasn’t too hard, and with a score of 859 (of 1000, 700 to pass), I’m happy. Also looking forward to using some of the new skills I’ve acquired, especially performance tuning.

I’m studying for the certification test right now, and it’ll probably be only a few weeks before I test =). I’ve gotta say, I’m excited! I’m hoping to get my MCDST before summer if at all possible so that hopefully I can get a good summer job/internship.

gained mcp status back in december 2005, got my mcts in december 2006. strange how exams and christmas seem to mix well with me.

I took the test… but didn’t pass. Questions turned out to be more difficult than I imagined. Time to read the book again.
