Recently the idea of riding my bike just makes me feel bad. The person who use to be my riding buddy is no longer in my life. Too many memories of that person are tied to my bike. I suppose I’ve been avoiding it. I do miss the way riding makes me feel. The wind in your hair on those cold nights is amazing.

So, I used to ride my bike practically every day, and any time I got the chance to go for a ride with other people, I totally went and did it, even planned out sometimes with people. It was great, and I loved it. Now, I miss it. The smile on my face as I’m just riding around town, being honked at for being in the way, and then the scenery. It was a lot of fun, and I want to do it again.

The one main thing putting me off riding my bike as often as I’d like, is the fact that I have to either just ride through all the busy streets and roads – which I really hate doing, and don’t feel at all comfortable with, or I could walk for a little while with my bike till I get to some quieter areas – but those aren’t very big or interesting areas, at all. I’d have to just keep riding around and around in circles – it’d be so tedious. I don’t want that – I want to enjoy the riding. I’m either going to need to work on my confidence with riding by roads, or just finding new areas to go to.

I’ve been biking 4+ times a week for over a month now. I’m calling this goal done and moving on to a new goal: journalling the distance and frequency of my rides. I’m thinking about training up to doing a longer-distance bike tour.

This goal is just about done! Have been biking a few new places lately. I love the freedom of getting myself around on the bike and the perspective on the city that it gives me.

It makes me very happy :)

I’m learning to love my bike commute. I think it must be one of the nicest commute paths in the city, about 80% of it is on a park bike path and no cars to deal with. Too bad it is boiling hot outside!

I’m not sure when I’m going to call this goal met. I don’t know if I want it to be a forever thing or not.

Today I rode my bike to work. Not home because gramma didn’t want me riding home in the dark. It didn’t take me as long to get there as I thought it was going to, about 20 minutes.

    And again today!

Today’s bike ride consisted only of riding to Tops to get allergy medicine. I decided it was a good idea to mow the lawn without it. >_<

It’s only about a 10 minutes round trip ride if that, but I still rode my bike and was more active than just jumping in the car! :)

Now I’m going to go die in bed until the meds kick in. lol

30 minute bike ride today. :)

It’s hard to ride without a destination sometimes. I think I might start riding my bike into work and then having someone pick me up. I don’t know if I could do a 30 minute bike ride after standing for X hours.

It was nice. The weather was perfect for one. I wish I had a riding buddy, but shrug. It was nice to get out and be active instead of just vegging in front of the TV which is what my life has become more recently. Active = very good. :)
