... Knowing and meditating upon God’s word is told to us many times in Scripture especially in the Psalms.
I will be memorizing in the ESV translation. I love the KJV the best but the ESV is much more easily shared with others and is very accurate. I received a new ESV study Bible for Christmas, thanks to my hubby.

fycarr is going to the lake tomorrow! Ready for R & R!
This is the first verse I want to memorize. I have to look it up all the time. I can paraphrase it but it is much more soothing when I quote it. I’ve used this verse many times when life seems to be too much. I think it’s a great verse to start with for that reason.
I will devote a bit of my bible reading/study time each day to this verse until I can do it with ease and confidence that I won’t forget it any time soon. (Memorizing isn’t as easy as it used to be! I trust God will help with that :) )
Haggai 1:6-7 You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but don’t have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but there is none warm; and he that earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes.
Thus says the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Our reason for existing is to bring honor to God. What could be more worthwhile/lasting than to honor Him by giving up your life, just like Jesus gave up His own will to performing the will of His Father?
Ok, this has turned out to be an intention not yet a reality.
I have learned a portion of this before but I want to learn the whole Psalm in the ESV.
Action steps will be to print out the Psalm, and break down into easy sections.
Aiming to have this done by next week….
I want to do this but don’t seem to follow through. I will start with Psalm 91 from the ESV.
I have a hard time with memorizing the book and verse numbers more than anything.
This week I’ll ID some verses I already know and memorize the references that go with them such as “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19 – I also found a list of verses that I want to memorize.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the gate of the sinner, or sit in the seat of the mocker.
But he delights himself in the law of the lord and meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted beside water whose leaves do not wither. All he does prospers.
Not so the wicked, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicket will not stand in judgement, nor the sinner in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord watches of the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Psalms 1
Our family just memorized this over the past few months, it is a nice place to start
I will learn the parable of the talents, and where it is in the bible.
Mathew 25:14-30
(Paraphrased into my own words)
The master was going away, so he left things of value with three of his servants. He left 5 with one servant, 2 with another and 1 with a third.
Upon his return he asked his servants what they had done with his goods.
The first and second servants had put the goods to work and had doubled what the master had left with them. The master was please, and put more yet into their care.
The third told the master that he was afraid, so he hid the goods given him so it would be safe. The master was not happy, he chided the servant that he should at least have deposited it in a bank where it could gain interest.
In his anger, the master took from the servant the only goods left with him, and gave it to the servant whom had been most industrious with his charge.
Remember, to whom much is entrusted much is expected, also, those whom do not make the best use of their gifts will lose them, and those whom make the most use of their gifts will gain more!
as taught to me on a CD by Charlie Jones. I will count this done if I can do it every month for one year!
