Dang, dang, dang.
Somebody stole my new shiny purple bike ;(
That’s how karma treats me…
It’s not easy to say
but I hope it serves the thief well,
perhaps he needed it more than I do…
Looks like this goal gets back on the undone side of the list.
How I did it: I've been riding my landlords bike for the last year, learning how to ride well. So I knew that I wanted a Hybrid bike. I went one week with a friend and looked at several different bike shops, and did some test rides. I went back the next week for more test rides. And I love. love. love my new bike. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I really lucked out and got a free bike when my father upgraded. Eventually, I'd like to get something more suitable for heavy riding and workouts, but this old road bike is good for getting around quickly. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I saved $300 which was what I wanted to spend. $100 from overtime. $30 from selling things on craigslist. And $170 contributed from my wife from "the change jar." I spent 3 months searching catalogs, stores and craigslist. Finally, finding the exact bike I was looking for, a used Surly Cross Check for $250 and I spent $50 on upgrading parts. Read how I did it…

Ok, So I have a bike to ride around on- its a mountain bike, and its small, but it belongs to my lovely landlord, Peri. So technically, I can get anywhere around Portland on it.
But I still don’t have my own for when I move back to NY.
Picked up a nice red ten-speed at a garage sale this morning… I even got to cruise around the block a few times before it started raining.

a new commuting bicycle with panniers and a trunk rack, etc.
but yay! it is mine!
i’m even riding it pretty regularly, several times a week to town or campus. it’s good. it makes me feel all healthy and alive. and as much as i love my car, it’s always good not to be so dependent. while i’m living in a place that’s bike-friendly, i should take advantage of it!
I am totally gonna trade in my car this summer. Just a matter of working up to my 30 mile round trip commute, ha. The first step in a series though!

Keith Pitty is aiming to be in bed by 11 pm tonight
There have been quite a few times recently when I have wished I had a bicycle. When I need to go to the nearby shops but don’t have enough time for the 30 minute round trip by foot, I resort to driving. And I have wonderful fire trails nearby on which I could ride a bike.
When I was at school (three decades ago now) I used to think nothing of riding 5km there and another 5km home. Now I need more exercise to improve my health and fitness. A bicycle appears to be a perfect answer! Healthier for me and the environment.
Time to shop around.

i hate driving somewhere that i can bike to. my mom donated my bike a few months ago without my consent which is sad, so i plan to get a new one. or a new old one, whichever comes my way first.

I had the opportunity, a ride & an assistant & I did it.
This goal has been off & on my list since I joined this site, it’s good to have it finally completed!
Now to get riding. My partner’s getting a bike by the end of the year so I am looking forward to riding together :)
