In December I can officially move thing goal to the I’ve done this list! This is not an easy task….
How to put myself through college
How I did it: I had a late start: didn't have the option, resources, or finances to jump into college fresh out of high school.
Once I did start, I had to do things part time. Sometimes I would take 1-2 courses and work 2-3 jobs at a time. Sometimes I would take up to 6 courses (I would get fits of motivation to get it over with) and still work full-time (definitely affected my grades).
I had to make a degree change half-way through, and this cost me time and money. I was able to avoid student loans up til the last year and a half, but then course work, internships, and student training demanded more of my work schedule.
I accomplished getting my Bachelor's degree, and I can say with pride that I did it on my own. :o)
Lessons & tips: Stay involved in your academic plan- be diligent: the college will not tell you if you don't have to take a class towards your degree. For them it is a business, and the more classes, whether required or not, the more money they get.
