I did this a few weeks ago at a bar in Louisville, KY called Phoenix Hill. There were only a few people in the karaoke room so my shyness wasn’t that bad. I wasn’t even drunk!
I had so much fun, I went back the next weekend and sang three songs.

Well, sorta. Me and some friends went to a karaoke bar in Old Town Alexandria. P put in a song within 5 minutes of arriving and by the time of last call (1:30 in VA, boo) he still had not gotten to sing it.
Basically, if this is going to be done I need to go to a hole in the wall bar. Rock It Bar was too crowded and the regulars hogged all the stage time.
I try, but I’m always too shy. I don’t know why I am – everyone else is too drunk to notice if I was horrible. But still. I don’t want to be “that girl” who sucked.
I have done this with a friend, but I would like to do a song alone. We sucked and forgot the words but being drunk makes it fun. I think people who karaoke well are friggin cool. I sing in my car when no one can hear me. I don’t think I sound terrible, I grew up singing in church.
My problem is that I don’t like to be up in front of people. Even in school I hated giving reports in front of the class. Even small classes made up of all friends!
