MARCH TEAM ART PROJECT: Create a new soft pastel painting and post it at 43things

It was really different to work with pastels again..after a long lay off. I am trying to do things mostly from life these days—so I cut up an orange for this exercise. It is March 31..so I made the deadline!

My latest creation using a new techique with india ink as the base before applying the layers of soft pastel. Inspired by recent discussions with some online friends about depression. Often it can make one feel alone, but in those moments, we forget that we’re never alone. We’re surrounded by people that love us and would support us no matter what.

Sometimes we just don’t take the time to tell the ones we love and care what they mean to us…

On a side note, I’m going to mark this goal complete. Just let me know if you’d like to go for another round.

I ran into an artsy friend today shopping who asked me if I was showing artwork anywhere…and the sad part was that I haven’t made any artwork in ages due to working 70+ hours lately. Within the next week, the hours will be going down, but my focus will be getting the house in order for my grandparents who are coming to visit for the first time ever. So someday soon, I’ll make some art. :(

in some ways, this seems to easy…in other ways, it seems so hard. making art part of your every day life can be a life changing experience…the hard part is getting started…so stop whatever you are doing this moment and go sketch something, so create something. it doesn’t have to be large and grand…just something…
