NinaWills is returning to her equilibrium.

Okay.. I am officially not with the program 3 years ago

I missed the British F1 GP and only realized it was even on when I read the newspaper that Alonso won (again!) with Schumi trailing behind at 2nd place. Trailing is the right word coz Schumi is probably a gazillion points behind Alonso.. haha.. am sure it’s not that much, but it is a lot to catch up on.. and at this rate, it looks like Renault is quite confident to lift the constructor’s cup yet again. Oh well.. I still adore Schumi anyhow.. there’s something about his face that gets to me, in a good way of course.. :P

Not doing too well 3 years ago

Been too busy, and I’ve missed several races. Honestly, I try to catch this if it’s convenient .ie when I’m not running around like some mad woman. So when I catch it halfway, I’m like.. naah, can’t be bothered.

But one thing I’m happy about is Alonso’s recent win. Emerging champs at home ground is pretty special indeed. He must be on cloud nine still. Schumi did it last week on his home turf. Watched him jump for joy on the podium. He looked cute.. ;)

Renault’s Alonso is still in the lead, 18 points ahead of Ferrari’s Schumi if not mistaken. I hope the other teams pick up soon. Wonder what’s going on at McLaren..

The only F1 I missed.. 3 years ago

and turns out, Schuey won! Hurray but..darn it! I got home in time for the trophy presentation. Oh well.. Schumacher started from pole, but from what I heard/read, Alonso almost won the race.

Definitely a multiple celebration for Ferrari, winning 1st and 4th place at their home circuit, San Marino. Now the race gets even more interesting. Will Renault maintain their supremacy or will Ferrari and McLaren pick their paces and give the boys in blue a run for their money? It’s anybody’s guess until the F1 circus arrives for their next race, 7th May in Nurburgring, Germany!

    Crash..bang..boom! 3 years ago

Well.. not a boom exactly, but Button sure ended up in flames and a cloud of smoke. Too bad indeed, especially since he started the race in pole position. Schumacher didn’t fare any better. He somewhat lost control of his car at one of those corners and crashed it in drama-like fashion, hitting the wall on his left-side of the car, then steering the car onto the right-side of the track. Debris was all over the place! The safety car came out several times as a preventive measure and all drivers slowed down as the marshalls scrambled to clean up the track. Seriously, they made good use of the safety car this week.. Mercedes-Benz got their money’s worth alright!

Other than Schumi, there were quite a few others who crashed their cars. Apparently, the track was slippery, though I’m not sure whether there was rain prior to the race. Massa, Schumi’s team mate crashed out too, much earlier, as was Weber, Trulli and Klien. Montoya who managed to redeem his spinning warmup incident caught up with the race leaders and seemed primed for a podium finish. However, mechanical failures sabotaged his chance this week and he was left stranded on the grass. Talk about bad luck.. bummer!

In the end, Renault emerged champs with Alonso lifting the cup at Albert Park. Raikkonen who fared much better today clocked the fastest lap time; 1m 26 secs but had to be content with 2nd place. Ralph Schumacher, Michael’s younger sibling found himself at 3rd place giving Toyota much-needed points for the Constructors standings.

And there you have it folks.. mechanical failures, multiple crashes and an engine burning up in spectacular fashion. Though it got a bit dull somewhere in the middle, the eventful beginning and ending sure made this week’s F1 the most memorable race yet!

p/s: I wonder why Michael went wandering into Toyota’s garage after crashing out of the race. He must’ve been really pissed to not even notice where he was going.. ;) Oh well… Best of luck to Schumi, Massa and Ferrari when they race Imola this coming 21st April. :)

Not as successful as last week 3 years ago

Getting up at 5am to watch the F1 after a night standing in a pub drinking beer, then only getting to bed at 3am after yet more wine just isn’t going to happen, luckly the race is repeated at 3.45, but I was entertaining guests so, didn’t pick things up till around a third of the way in, so miss all the action at the start of the race.

Still, I got some of it, and thats the important thing.

Congrats to Fisichella! 3 years ago

Much action, much drama. Several engine failures, tyres wrangled bare amidst burnt rubber. Smoking engines going up in flames.. Kimi wrecking his car yet again.. the poor boy!

Schumi trying as best as he could, but his second pit stop cost him to lose a few points. Else I thought he had a good chance of finishing at least 4th instead of 6th.

Alonso and Button were solid as usual, but careful not to stress out their cars. The season has only reached its second leg but boy.. it’s promising a good show all the way til the end.

With Fisichella scoring max points, it’s still anyone’s guess who will emerge triumphant this season. Renault seems poised to lift the Championship trophy but Honda, Ferrari and McLaren are sure as hell gonna make it bloody hard for them.

Apart from the misfortune that inflicted Raikkonen, Heidfeld went up in smoke and flames with 6 more laps to go. Talk about bad luck.. Really, anything could go wrong when you’re speeding at 300-odd km per hour, racing neck and neck and often tyre to tyre.. pitting man, machine and the latest technological breakthrough with speed as the common denominator.

At the end of the day, race leader Fisichella defended his pole position successfully and Renault had triple reasons to smile and celebrate.. finishing 1-2 on the podium as well as lifting the Constructor’s trophy in Sepang earlier today.

Congratulations are in order for Giancarlo Fisichella. What happens from here onwards, we shall see next when F1 fever hits Albert Park, Australia…!

Watched 100% of races so far!! 3 years ago

Okay, so only the first week – but it was great fun, and it’s better then past attempts to start watching an F1 season, so this year I can stick with it, and get into it more pro-actively. Even with having to get up at 10:30am on a sunday for the first race wasn’t to much of a struggle!

    Why I love F1.. 3 years ago
    • it’s all about speed, precision, tactics, strategy and pure, unadulterated determination to win
    • it teaches you the value of time, and how a fraction of a second can make all the difference between pole and second.. something a procrastinatress like me should remember time and again ;P
    • beyond speed, it’s about teamwork. Everybody plays an important role to secure a win.. for the driver as well as for the team. NO matter what you do, messing up could mean disaster (and a lot of wasted $$$!)
    • coz I adore Michael Schumacher.. for his consistency and diligence.. and watching him compete head to head with Alonso is better than watching any one one one sport!

All the best to Schumi, Massa and Ferrari.. let’s paint it red when you guys hit the Sepang circuit (that’s our local circuit!) next week!
