Make a portfolio website, and update it

Well, I wouldn’t say this is completely done, but I have everything ready to go. I just need to work with P to figure out the hosting and if he really wants to do the code for whatever he needs to do the code for.

Other than that, I have projects to photograph.

Holy cow. 10 DAYS!? I only have 10 days left? Where the hell did time go?

Was I panicky in my last entry for this goal, or what?

I spoke with my beau about what I need to do to just start this whole thing and it’s more complicated than I thought. I knew that I had to buy server space somewhere unless I wanted to use his server…

But, some servers don’t allow certain additional programs like Movable Type. So. I may just design something really quick for my beau to put up on his server, and later, when I want a blog-type thing plus e-commerce, we can figure it all out together. Especially since he needs to do that coding for other clients anyway…

Still, it’s a process. A long one. And it’s tough designing for yourself. Really tough.

In regards to my last entry: I redesigned the Griffith Observatory site and it came out dandy, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

I need to make my portfolio website.
I need more experience and work and money.

(Guru sucks.)

I asked one of my professors if she could give a little lecture on how to go about freelancing, and she said that could be a class in and of itself. Which doesn’t help me, does it? I just need to sit down and figure this goal out.

It’s tough designing things for yourself…and we’re so busy. I’m so busy with work I don’t even get paid for. How are we supposed to afford any kind of life?

I feel so stagnant sometimes. I was sitting in Subway yesterday during my long break at school, and I just wanted to get SHIT DONE so I could GO SOMEWHERE. Anywhere. It was like “edge of my seat” antsy, just what the hell am I doing here? thinking. Where are we going to live? How will we afford health insurance? When will I go to France? What is my deadline for kids? Is that guy eating the same chips as me?

And now I’m just thinking about all the crap that has to be figured out; the task list in my head is a mess. Bakery appointments, music appointments, lighting, AV systems?, decorations?, world dance performers?, finish photo editing, read chapters, tea box package design, texture project, take the laundry out, put Planet Earth to DVD, Santa Monica Pier poster contest, Yellow Page ad comps, pick up prints on Friday?, photograph the centers, address postcards, buy cards for baby/engagement, birthday gifts for in-laws?, schedule car maintenence, email Dr. Trisal, reschedule dermatologist, did I already schedule gyno?, upload photos to Imagestation, look into photo stamps for invites, pack a new pen since I’m running out of ink…

Oh crikey, the laundry’s still in the dryer.

Well, i’ve done my portfolio and now i’m proud of it. Lol, it’s somehow cool.

I added this goal with the assumption that ‘portfolio website’ meant my portfolio, but I’ve realized that’s not entirely true.

My final project for my web design course is to create a completed portfolio website – a redesign of an already existing website.

Well then, that website can then go into my portfolio. Along with other things, if I still have them. That’s my main problem – I don’t keep very good track of my completed projects.
