Actingismydream101 is preforming a play
I hope this will turn out good I really been dieing to be in acting hopefully my dream WILL come true!! :)
How I did it: Earlier this year I picked up a flyer advertising acting classes through Darlo Drama and it piqued my interest. I kept the flyer handy and about six months later decided that I should go for it even though it was tough trying to squeeze classes into my already over-crammed life.
The aim of the 10 week course is to perform a monologue on the last night in front of family and friends. We did a lot of exercises throughout the first half of the course, and the second half was about working on our pieces.
I did pretty well on the final night - actually, I brought the house down! I've never been much of an entertainer so it was a real rush...which is also why I have decided to continue on to Level 2 along with a bunch of my classmates. Why let go of a good thing?
Lessons & tips: The main thing is to turn up every week, and when you're there, really get into the spirit of it. Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself, and don't be afraid to take a few risks. Trust your classmates and your teacher.
Resources: Go to www.darlinghursttheatre.com and look up info about their acting classes. Highly recommended!

Flazzle wishes there was something higher than 10 on the morale-o-meter! :)
It’s completely out of my comfort zone and that makes me want to do it even more!
So we did “improv auditions” Monday night. I had the advantage of being in the last group so I got to watch about 15 actors before it was my turn. I was a little thrown off because the director asked me to cry continuously on camera. She hadn’t asked anyone else to do that, so it was very unexpected. I couldn’t get any tears out, but I twisted my face all sorts of fun ways!!! hahaha! I was invited to an open casting call tomorrow night, so I guess I’m going to go. I didn’t really want to, but one of the students in my class wouldn’t let me say no. She thought I did a great job and convinced me it will be fun to practice auditioning.
Started class on Monday night. We spent the first half of the class learning about the differences between theatre acting and screen acting. The second half of the class was spent with film students and we learned about different equipment and lighting options. It was pretty interesting, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the class. I am a little nervous about this coming week because we are doing “casting” for our next class. Meaning, we will be cold-reading in front of about 60 people so the film students can choose who they want to use for their projects. I am scared!
There’s an “Acting for the Camera” class starting up at the community college next week. If I can scrape together enough money for the class, I’m planning to participate. :)
i became more confident, im not shy at all, and ive never had more fun!!
Ava293 is learning french and german!
I really admire actors and would like to get a small part in a movie someday, but i have absolutly no experience. Whenever there was a school play i was too shy to do anything at all. I want to try my best and possibly succeed in moviemaking somehow, but i don’t know how to stop being shy. Anyone have any advise? Thanks! :)
If you want to become an actor it’s essential. But even if you don’t, acting classes can help improve your confidence in all areas of life.
Growing up in a small town, it seems quite the preverbial tale of a girl with big dreams. Think of me as a young Julia Roberts (we’re from Georgia, the two of us, though I look nothing like her) that appears younger than she really is. I’m petite all around, and I am painfully shy at first. It seems quite contradictory that I might in some way want to take classes or even act. I like to watch people, and I love to watch how people react. Oftentimes, I like to imagine what they are thinking. It is the simple, unsaid things in life that have the most importance. The old man sighs and shrinks in his posture while beside him an old woman crosses her legs and looks the picture of proper. I love to write, and I love to act – or I loved to act, when I took classes in middle school. I am twenty-two years old, five foot nothing, one hundred and nothing with an athletic build, brown hair and eyes that have green on the outside with a more yellow color on the inside. Some may mock me for wanting to act in any way, but it is my dream. If I don’t finally overcome my small town hinderance then I will never get the chance to taste the sweet nector of this dream. And, therefore, that is my post for all to plainly see. I want to act, not for money or fame. I want to act for myself, for all of those around me that I watch. I want to bring a character to life and help it to grow.
