MomentoVivere Now I need to focus on Time Management!!
To start, I want to be able to play one song flawlessly.
Learn to play the violin might be quite a challenge at first. However, about 1-2 years after the beginning, I now know that it was a right choice.
Violin takes nearly a decade to get right on the classical track. That is, if you plan on using it for actual classical music, but nowadays that’s not economically worth doing unless you’re really passionate about it.
It gets incredibly boring when you approach the 6th year playing, so it helps to find a passion-genre. My favorite is gypsy music – I love Hungarian folk music and eastern European songs.
It also helps to practice a complimentary instrument, like the violin.
the violin is a beautiful instrument. I’ve been playing for about 9 years on classical. I also play a bit of jazz violin (about 2 years) my older sister has been playing for 12 years and she teaches me a lot of stuff in addition to my private lessons. Remember to not limit yourself on what you can do.
I’ve been playing violin for 8 1/2-9 years and today I gave my first lesson to a five year old! I’m only 13 but I can play a lot of stuff. I recommend the Suzuki Method (books 1-8) because it takes you from a beginner to an advanced player all in the same method. While working on that also work on Wolfhart, and when you finish that, both Kreutzer and the Carl Flesh Scale Book. Don’t give up if you can’t play yet!
but sooooooo worth it! What an amazing instrument. You don’t have to limit yourself to just classical- my hot tipd are to be inspired. look at the following.
Steven Grapelli
Sophie Solomon
Nathan Milstein

When I was in 6th grade (a lifetime ago) my mother told me that I had to join something, anything to keep me busy and out of trouble. I already played softball, but it didn’t take up enough of my time. So, I enrolled in the orchestra. I began playing the violin and fell in love with it. I still play to this day (and I’m 30 something now :) When I play, I close my eyes and I’m taken away to someplace perfect. I wouldn’t give it up for anything!
