How I did it: I figured out that it is never dangerous to talk to my boss, that he's kind and mild and helpful and very clever.
But figuring that out did not make it easier at all. I still couldn't talk to my boss unless it was a dire emergency. Talking to him usually left me winded and it took some time to recover.
Then I started using anti-anxiety medication, and suddenly the problem went away. Partly I no longer needed to fear the resulting exhaustion after the meeting, and partly my productivity went up abruptly so that I had more things to show him that I'm proud of. Read how I did it… 2 years ago

I have just talked to my boss. I walked into his office and asked advice. It didn’t hurt. In fact it was very helpful, and he spotted my problem after a few minutes of thought, and he was very kind about it.
