I just put out my first podcast episode, second time around. I had a podcast years ago, put wanted to do something in connection with a non-profit I belong to (actually, I’m the president now). It’s called the Science Fiction Oral History Association at SFOHA.org. Anyways, the podcast is called The Space Dog Podcast and I’m utilizing recordings, new and old, from the SFOHA archive. Check it out or search for it on iTunes.
Now my last podcast lasted about 20 episodes and faded. It was labor intensive and difficult to put out regularly. This new podcast I hope to put out on time every two weeks—REGULARLY! 2 years ago

I was going really strong there for awhile with iPod Nirvana (ipodnirvana.com), but have really let it go.
I need to decide if I should hold on to it to come back to it some day… or sell it off. 6 years ago

Trying to figure out how to get the podcast more visibility. Listenership is pretty low (I think) and I’m not sure how to get the word out. Not much traffic is being driven by the normal directories.
This promotion thing is an area that I really have to figure out. 7 years ago

I enjoy doing it and know that its building skills because I’m more conscious of how I communicate, but rallying up independent music in this genre is a lot of freakin’ work. I didn’t realize how much time it would take when I started. 7 years ago

Because there’s so many choices of shows to listen out there, I suggest that you talk about what’s important to YOU and don’t burn yourself out by posting every single day (at least in the beginning). Refill your mind with media and personal life experience, then share your story on a regular schedule.
Be well,

well, I’m gaining momentum. Hit show 15 and found that because I moved hosting of the podcasts I had to add RSS enclosures manually, so no one could get the show. More accurately, SOME shows would show up in iTunes, even without enclosures.
Anyway, I’m learning a lot and Castblaster is a godsend! 7 years ago

I’ve finally decided on a format and have set a goal to hit 20 podcasts by March with a friend and mentor of mine. 7 years ago

The podcast is done, uploaded and the site is all ready as well. It’s taken a while to get it started, but I’m glad that it’s going. It’s called Bad Metaphor and it features me and my 9 year-old son talking about things that we find interesting. The format so far is that we pick a theme and then talk about that. The first episode is called Beginnings and we talk about our first computers and a few other beginnings.
While the podcast was ready a while ago, I had to play around with the site and was trying to understand the best way to keep it all together. We’re getting the second episode ready now and I think that I’ve got it stable enough to launch, so take a listen and enjoy if you are interested in this sort of thing. 7 years ago

I’m determined to get this one off the list tomorrow, the last day of the year and it’s just about there. Just some editing and mixing and it will be live. yay! 7 years ago

A couple of weeks ago I did a test podcast with my son to start to work out a format for a podcast. It went well and I’ll record a real, public one soon (but I may share the first one). The next steps are to get the support site together and to figure out the topics and focus… 7 years ago

I am really enjoying podcasting, especially using Garageband. I need to spend more time with the program to make better songs, however. And learn to REALLY play the guitar. My podcast feed is:

It’s hard to come up with content that is different, but I figured a way out. I just record my dreams each morning. I stopped doing it for a while, but I finally got back into the habbit of doing it regularly.

My good friend Charles and I have made 4 episodes so far. We’ve been doing them weekly, and it’s been pretty damn exciting and fun. Check out the latest one, episode 04. 8 years ago

It’s tough some times but I’ve been hitting my goal and it’s been a lot of fun. The key is to keep plugging a long even when you are not in the mood! 8 years ago

I do a (sort of) regular podcast show at – http://60secondshai.blogspot.com/ . The response has been great, so far. So yes, it’s definitely worth doing! Go for it! 8 years ago

I’d like for it to be a bit different. I’m not exactly sure how, but I don’t want to do just a “New music I’ve discovered,” or, “I’m gonna tell you about my week,” or “My weekly diatribe” type thing.
Some things I’ve considered:
- an audio dream journal accompanied by drone music
- narrative stories – mostly based on my own lief (I’ve had an interesting life, believe me)
- Bed-time stories for kids
- Weird audio drama type thing based on ideas from a friend’s dreams.
Currently, the second item seems like the one I’d like to do the most. It would be a good way to get back in to writing.
I need to get my new computer before I can do this, though :) 8 years ago

I participate in 4 different shows, and each gives something unique back. I usually enjoy the production side more, but the “at the mic” work is quite rewarding.
My only advice, keep doing it! There’s NO wrong way to do this. 8 years ago

I really enjoy the discipline of recording a regular podcast. The preparation is very rewarding.
You kind of have a bunch of people, listeners, depending on you to put out your podcast. The desire to not disappoint is a great motivator.
