You’ll enjoy the book. Great read!
How I did it: I read half of it on a plane, on January 1st 2009. I had several catharsises while reading this book. It was THAT amazing. Did you know that after watching a couple talk for 15 minutes, someone with a little training can predict with 90% accuracy whether they'll still be married or not in the next 15 years?
Lessons & tips: Nudge me and I'll update the summary that Wikisummaries has.
Tony, the Bald Eagle There's no passion settling for a life less than u r capable of living
I found the title & content compelling.
Although the book seemed to finish weakly I found the information it contained interesting.
What I learnt:
1. First impressions count.
2. Practice & expertise matter.
3. Priming is a useful tool to get people thinking the way you want.
It’s one of those books that makes you look at parts of your life in a different way. There is a part about how couples interact with each other, and now I can’t stop thinking about what little signs I’m giving off. Very interesting, and the anecdotes make it a fun and easy read.
Sometimes first impressions are correct. Sometimes they’re not. Sometimes well thought out conclusions are right…but sometimes they’re wrong too. Gladwell provides a lot of examples for all these cases but because he looks at each example on a case by case basis he fails to unify his points.
it was interesting, and i’ve gained some knowledge (albeit random) from it. it wasn’t as compelling as i hope it would be, probably because at times he seemed prolix. i would suggest reading it but it’s not a must.
Loved this book. Makes you really think about how your mind works.
Heard they’re making a film inspired by this book with Leonardo di Caprio as the lead. Not sure how thats gonna work.
