yesterday i finished the task: everything more or less important was arranged in a storage system, the chaotic remainder was put into a huge box and lays now hidden on top of my bookshelf… ^^ the cleaning sponge was almost entirely black after messing with the table, but now there is beautiful emptiness, just a few notebooks and my table lamp… vast! i’m really glad i’ve done it, and the next step is to keep it this way: no more sedimentation and regular cleaning and sorting unneeded things out! lets see…

well, my therapist told me to make this the first of tons of very small steps to get a working routine and good working conditions for finishing my m.a. i got huge problems to do the papers for my seminars and now we’re going to resolve it this way.
so lets do this and then look forward to keep it clear!

Well I have managed to go through things and sort out the desk space as promised in my previous entry. I have cleared everything up, put everything into its rightful place and set up a few procedures to keep everything in tip top shape. I suppose that keeping things clear will be the most difficult but let’s see how I go.
Of course this is the work desk, I now have to do the desk space at home, but this was the most pressing

I really want to keep things clean and simple and this post on Zen Habits has inspired me http://zenhabits.net/2007/10/reader-success-stories-getting-productive-and-a-clean-desk/
If I can manage to get halfway there I will be happy. I wonder how long it will take for people to notice. I’m going to try and take a before and after picture too.
I have already managed it on the work PC, all the icons are hidden and so my desktop is simply a beautifal and inspiring 1024 image

This morning, when I got my 43 things reminder, I took it upon myself then to make some sense of the clutter! Yes, there is still some clutter, but I am the type of person who actually needs clutter. I just have to keep my clutter organized!

I have just tidied all the old papers off my desk. I’m an editor, and I end up printing off great reams of stuff, marking them up on paper, doing dull stuff with some typesetting software, and then leaving them on the desk.
It was like geological strata down there, all in descending date order. I recycled the lot (and archived a few bits), and found:
- Three CDs
- A hairband
- £3.45
- A teaspoon
- A lipsalve
- A birthday card I received four months ago with an amusing kitten on it
- Vitamin pills
I am now wondering whether to keep on top of it or whether to let it build up again and enjoy the surprises I find when I next excavate it.
