This weekend, we did two things that I had yet to do, even though I have lived here for years.
The weather has been perfect for biking, so we decided to take our bikes downtown, via the Lakeshore Path, to run some errands, and decided to finish it off with a few drinks at the Terrace at the Trump.
Both experiences were enjoyable, and I am looking forward to more bike riding in the future. I am glad we checked out the Trump, but drinks on the Terrace are too pricey to indulge in often. It is, however, a nice place to take out-of-town guests for a nice view and a well-made drink. Their truffle fries are awesome too!

A few weeks ago, when we had family in town for the wedding, Syed and I took my aunt Patty, cousin Emily, and Grandma out for a cruise on Wendella’s line that combines architecture with general sight-seeing on both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
I have not done many of the typical touristy things here, but we had a good time. Afterward, we went to a Thai restaurant downtown to give Emily her fix before going back to New Jersey, where apparently, Thai does not exist.
Anyway, the boat cruise was a neat experience and I am glad we did it. Now that I have seen it, I don’t think I would do it again unless I had guests in from out-of-town who wanted to go..

On Memorial Day, Syed and I went grocery shopping.. and somehow ended up trying to find Obama’s house, its only about 13 miles south of us.
We did find it, but security on that block is very tight and the police officers would not let us even walk down the street.
Today, after going for a jog, Syed and I walked down to Graceland Cemetery, where many of Chicago’s famous sons and daughters are buried. We had a good time walking around and decided to escape via the wall instead of walking back to the gate we came in through.

I completed this one a long time ago, but it just now occurred to me as something to record.
I have been on each of the el lines (red, blue, purple, green, brown, pink, orange & yellow), numerous bus lines, and numerous metra lines.
I have also covered untold miles by foot, bike & auto.
Yes folks, I get around.

When I was in Chicago for some trading classes a couple years ago, I took a couple extra days to explore Chicago. It is a wonderful city.
