DoctorTeeth says, "Oh Sky Cake, why are you so delicious?"

    Wow. 18 months ago

It was kind of a gong show getting in (when we arrived the parking/camping attendants were just throwing people in wherever they could get them, extremely disorganized). And the camping area wasn’t exactly what I had expected: just enough room for your tent and your car, and maybe 4 or 5 square feet to sit down and try and set up some chairs/tables/campstove at. Maybe other people got better setups when they arrived, I don’t know. But the slight camping problems didn’t compare to the show.

Great shows from acts I was looking forward to seeing (R.E.M., Flight of the Conchords, The Hives), some surprisingly good shows from bands I didn’t think much about beforehand (particularly The Presidents of the United States of America), and some bands I’d never heard before but now really love (The Cave Singers, Rodrigo Y Gabriela). As for the comedy, while I didn’t get to see the Upright Citizen’s Brigade’s ASSSSCAT show, I did catch some great stuff from Rich Fulcher, Jerry Minor, Tim Meadows, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Sean Conroy, and Matt Besser & Matt Walsh. I’m a little tanned, so my pale white complexion that I’ve been cultivating is now ruined, and I had 1 shower in 3 days, but overall, it was a great experience that I would definitely do again – depending on the lineup. (That 13 hour drive home was a killer.)

    Finally! 18 months ago

I heard about Sasquatch a few years ago and always wanted to go, and this year I have my chance! The lineup this year was too good to miss out on: I’m going to be able to see dozens of awesome performers. Particularly looking forward to: R.E.M., The New Pornographers, M.I.A., The Cure, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Tegan & Sara, The Flaming Lips, Flight of the Conchords, The Hives, The Breeders, Kathleen Edwards, Destroyer, and Mates of State. And of course, seeing some of the great comedy (Upright Citizen’s Brigade!!) and discovering a few new bands to boot. Should be awesome, will give the full lowdown when I get back.
