O k, so I’m getting up when willi wakes up in the morning. I’ll be sure to wake the rooster for the rest of you all. He says the alarm will sound at 5:33 A.M. Yes 5:33 A.M.!!!
I will begin week one of the “Couch to 5K” training. This consists of 60 sec jogs, 90 sec walking back and forth for 20 mins. This part will not be too hard because I have already started my goal of getting in shape (listed #2 on my list). But waking up at 5:33 in the morning, ha! That early in the morning (well anytime in the morning for that matter) I resemble the monster from the favorite childrens book “Where the wild things are”
Well wish me luck!!!

mathesons23 is planning an adventure holiday to tick off two of her things!
How I did it: Training slowly... building up gradually, until I completed 5K without realising I had reached it. Started running as a complete beginner, running for 1 minute, walking for 30 seconds. By the second week I was running for 5 minutes and walking for 30 seconds (6 times in one session). By end of 3rd week, ran 5K without stopping. Read how I did it…
How I did it: i ran across a program called couch-2-5k on the internet. i was NEVER a runner, ever. in high school my friends and i all walked the required mile-run. i dont know why but it looked like something i could do the way it was layed out. i found great free podcasts for my ipod with music and someone telling me when to run and when to walk. i had to repeat week 5 day 1 twice because i was on vacation and just coul… Read how I did it…

Mahy is studying all the time:)
I’m still in the beginning. I run in the gym, on the treadmill. SO far I’ve made it to 2k. I’ve started with 1.2K, then 1.5, then 1.7, and now 2k.
I wish I could make it to 5k continuously before the end of the summer.
I’ve been using the couch to 5k podcast from Podrunner. This morning was my first time running first thing of the day. I think I prefer running first thing instead of running after work. I have so much more energy now, I just want to keep going. I’ll switch to week 2 on Sunday. I’m excited to see progress.
ugh, so yesterday was about 10 degrees hotter than my last run, so I barely made it to my 1.5 mile goal even though I was making it to 1.5 last week when my goal was just 1.25. But I did it! Hopefully, it will be easier when I do it again tomorrow or Saturday.
So gave me lil runners a rest since saturday. I’m spending a week in our overseas office with colleagues who will make sure I’m constantly munching and chomping as part of their well-known hospitality. Bopped on the weighing scale today, and look it here.. what do you know… +3lbs.
I know now what addicted to running means. I think about running all the time, sweat pouring down my head, wet patches on my back, arms and legs in a locomotion.
I miss it…
Bored being a hamster. Maybe my legs are demotivated with the constant treadmill running. Couldnt even last 8 mins.
Taking a 3day break (guilt-infested nonetheless). Might switch to morning runs, lap-counting instead of minute-counting.
But this cute guy (who usually runs in front of me) said ‘Bye’ to me yesterday! What’s a hamster-chick to do?
Last week is not bad.. not bad at all. Dragged my ass of the couch to non-stop 20mins on the treadmill is an achievement (compared to the constant wheezing, sputtering sodden lump that I was after 5 minutes about 3 weeks ago).
Must keep going.. must keep going..
Goal for this week 3 sessions of 25 mins “I am a runner, run run run”
(ooo…popeye’s chicken just opened in TTDI)
- hoping to register for 6KM Malakoff at year-end (they had one last year).
- perhaps the Chicken Run too! (nothing like running holding an egg in a cone, wishing it was ice-cream in a cone instead)
- Oh, must go for Terry Fox Run this year too.
- Believe that I can.
- Repeat after me “I am a 5K runner, run, run, run”
- Couch to 30mins to 5K
- Join a running club (aaahh…. make new friends too)
I’m on week 2 of coolrunning.com couch to 5k program and I feel great. I cant wait to run in my first 5k.
