I did it! It feels really good to be saving, even though it will be a long time until I can benefit from it.
How to start an IRA
How I did it: I've been using and loving ING's online banking for over a year now and I've been thinking of starting an IRA for a few years, but everything seemed to require a bigger initial investment than I can make and was asking me to choose different types of funds, something I don't feel qualified to do at this point in my life. I was so happy when I found I could start a Roth IRA savings account on ING, which is perfect for me right now. There was no minimum, and I'm just earning a competitive savings rate, not playing with the market. When I'm older and have a better idea about investing, I'll make a more agressive account, but this is a good way to start, so I can save a few dollars here and there and make some headway. Every little bit counts, and the having as much time as possible to grow your money is so important, I'm glad to have something started!
