    • Journey work for healing and being able to get it sometimes.
    • Unexpected visits from Matt
    • Thai soup with coconut milk and mushrooms and cilantro and chicken on a cold night…yummy
    • When someone sticks their elbow right into that sore spot I get in my back…
    • My favorite bagel shop, especially when they don’t make the coffee too strong
    • My new boss, she seems so nice and fun. I mean I know that sounds simple but isn’t it great to have that in a boss?

    • Cleaned the main floor of the house. It looks like a place I’d actually be proud to have someone visit. Moved all the furniture I accumulated for my Mom to garage or elsewhere.
    • My boyfriend came over. We had a really good clear the air discussion about us and what we’re about.
    • Mariache Band night at the local Mexican restaurant.
    • Kissing in the moonlight on my deck.
    • Much laughing. Real laughing. The kind that makes you laugh later and people say “What?”

    Yesterday.... 3 years ago

I’m organizing a kickball team for a local fundraiser and I was SO GRATEFUL to find that not only did I have enough people for one team show up but we actually filled TWO teams! I’m grateful for friends.

My daughter called me yesterday from visiting her Dad. Hearing her voice always brings me joy. I know that sounds corny but I love my girls so much. We are truly connected.

    I had one client.

    I have one client today.

The summer is tough on massage therapists as people go on vacation etc. This summer I’ve survived a little better and I’m grateful.

    • Grateful for Doctors and Nurses. I went to the emergency room with a strange allergic reaction to something, unknown. Started to have chestpain and feel all clammy like I was passing out and decided I really needed to go. No insurance. Not looking forward to thousands of dollars of debt I just accrued. While I laid there letting the IV do it’s thing two 20 somethings came in from a gang related fight. The little town we live in is growing up and not in a good way. One kid had been beaten with a pipe about the head and neck and was alone and crying because his teeth were loose. I really felt for him. The cops were questioning both of them and their friends/gang members were filling the waiting room. I now know why they have a metal detector in the emergency room.

I was thinking how Doctors and Nurses in the emergency room have to face other people’s messes everyday and just do the best they can. Same with Cops, Firefighters and EMTs. They are the first ones to come upon other people’s poor decisions. They just try their best to clean it up and make it okay.

    And this weekend….

Watched my daughters excellent play and admired her.

Enjoyed friends and watched the World Cup final, a first.

Reworked a T-shirt to make a spiffy workout shirt, almost never do anything creative anymore.

Sat out on my friend’s porch and watched it rain.

    Had hope.

I almost drowned today 3 years ago

    And I’m grateful that I didn’t.

I fell off the innertube going down a local river and it was in the middle of the rapids. I couldn’t stand up because the water was too deep and fast and I couldn’t swim because there was boulders every where. I started to panic because the current keep pushing me this way and that and filling my mouth with water. I realized that if I didn’t make it back to my innertube and get on it, no one was going to be able to help me and the water was freezing cold. I’m still in shock. The only thing I could think about was that I’d never see my kids again.

I’m glad I’m here but I’m still scared.

Realizing that everything in my town is really only a half hour ride by bike. The traffic is so bad that you can actually beat the car on your bike. Ha!

    the lake is full

A friend offered my daughter an entry level job at his coffee house. She can learn how to make coffee drinks and have a little experience before going off to college.

My Mom didn’t have a stroke.
