Moved away to North Carolina when Katrina came. Can’t believe it’s been 5 years already. Feels longer. Where I live is lovely, lots of beauty and nice people everywhere. Just not who I am. Tried on the dress and I’m really ready to go back. I even miss the humidity! That’s sayin a lot right there. Miss my family, holiday, festivals, po’boys, parties, live music, old house smells, unique architecture and neighborhoods, dive bars, tropical flora, jazz fest, cracks in the sidewalks, but don’t miss the potholes or the people that make me afraid to get out of my car. It’s a crazy place but I love it…always will dawlin. Who Dat? 19 months ago

How I did it: Save lots of money, and settled for a place just outside of where I really wanted to be. We also sold off all our extra stuff before we left, making the move as easy as possible. Read how I did it… 2 years ago

I miss living in New Orleans terribly. The only thing that really keeps me here in Detroit is my father and wanting to be close to him. But it’s time that I did things that made me happy. 4 years ago

Ok, I never thought I’d move back to New Orleans – but it’s working for me as of now. It took forever due to my business in 3 cities, and I lost a good friend over it but yeah I have to make it work now. 4 years ago

I spent 2 years in Houston after Katrina and finally came to realize that I just really missed home. One day I just picked everything up and moved back. 4 years ago
