I miss living in New Orleans terribly. The only thing that really keeps me here in Detroit is my father and wanting to be close to him. But it’s time that I did things that made me happy.
How to move back to New Orleans
How I did it: Save lots of money, and settled for a place just outside of where I really wanted to be. We also sold off all our extra stuff before we left, making the move as easy as possible.
Lessons & tips: Don't expect New Orleans to be the same as it was prior to Katrina. The crime is worse, the politicians and police are even more corrupt...those that aren't corrupt are overworked. Murders are happening even in the best neighborhoods. It's breaking my heart. I'll be moving to New England next year and leaving the Big Easy behind for good.

Ok, I never thought I’d move back to New Orleans – but it’s working for me as of now. It took forever due to my business in 3 cities, and I lost a good friend over it but yeah I have to make it work now.
I spent 2 years in Houston after Katrina and finally came to realize that I just really missed home. One day I just picked everything up and moved back.
