I'm on it! 3 years ago

I’m already in Russian level 2. I’ll be fluent by the time I finish high school, at this rate. I’m so proficient that I can get away with just sitting in class, doing the translations in my head, and still get an A+. However, this teacher is not very helpful, so over the summer I will read the Russian dictionary I currently have and expand my vocabulary as much as possible. Someday I will defintely end up in the Language Honor Society… and tutoring for sure.

More like re-learning but yeah... 3 years ago

i was born in the soviet union, but moved to germany at the age of 7, my parents wanted us children to learn german fast, so russian was forbidden at home. i learned german alright, but over the years my russian got very very rusty due to lack of use. my family recently made to move from germany to canada (which is why i write in english rather than german). i have met some people here that spoke only russian, and it became obvious to me i needed to refresh my russian. i have found the best language program ever online, it is called ‘pimsleurs essential russian’, it is a bunch of audio russian lessons in about 90 30minute lessons. if u buy it in the store u can easily spend about $1,200 for all lessons. u can also search it under bittorrent (i recommend www.isohunt.com) and download it for free. if ur serious about learning russian, maybe u should look into it. good luck folks!

so that I can read The Brothers Karamazov in its original language. And talk to my Belarussian friends in their language.

I have been learning Russian for 3 years, but in the early 90’s years (when I was a primary school pupil) it was strictly recommended to learn Russian. For me, this learning time is only for freshening my knowledge of Russian language.

I learned it... 4 years ago

back in the Air Force in 1995, but if you don’t use it everyday it fades fast. I can still read it fairly well, but it is disappearing quickly. One of my goals is to raise my proficiency back up. Good luck, it’s an awesome language. Do svidaniya.

Am studying Russian. I want to keep understanding it after my few courses are over, though.
