Not turn into my parents!

but it seems like the people in my family keep making the same mistakes over and over from one generation to the next. That stops here, I won’t be like them. I will stand on my own two feet and make something of myself. I won’t put on a mask of happiness, I won’t refuse to deal with things when they don’t go my way, and I won’t put on a show.I believe in learning and it’s time for the daughter to learn from the mistakes of her family’s past and make a different choice and live.

I have the utmost respect for my parents, and couldn’t love them any more if I tried. However, I could most certainly live without turning into them. A few weeks ago I was having guests come to visit for the weekend. I ended up getting all stressed out wanting everything to be perfect for them. A few days later I was out skating and it hit me…I am turning into my mother. This was particularly disturbing because I have already had many moments like this where I realize I am being like my dad….like when I make up strange rules without reason….
I will not/must not turn into them!!!!!
