I don’t have a lot of time to write this but the best trip for the least amount of money is definitely through Prof. Charles Jonkel! He runs the non profit Great Bear Foundation out of Montana. He was one of the first Polar bear experts in the world and has written and been written about more than probably any body else. He takes 2 groups a year to Churchill via the Canadian train system and they stay at the Churchill Northern studies center. If you are really interested in Polar bears and the arctic enviornment then you don’t want to miss this opportunity. Every year he talks about retiring but he feels so strongly that the only way to protect the bears and combat global warming is to expose as many people as possible. I did this trip 2 years ago with my 10 year old(the summer trip) and I have had friends do the winter trip…more bears but too intense for kids.

What is the cheapest way to get to Churchill, from say Toronto? Been looking at the cost of flights. To Winnipeg not so bad, but I might have to rob a bank to afford the one on to Churchill!! Ouch. I don’t want to miss out on this experience while I have the opportunity of being in Canada – how can I get to Churchill without it sending me broke?? Anyone??
