it’s 3:39 am right now, and all i want to do tonight is work out, i have to get up and go swimming with my girlfriend tomorrow, and i don’t want to go to sleep now and be really tired when she wakes me up and just be moping around the pool. what should i do?
i really feel like staying up and working out, but i might be too tired later to swim, and with working out for a few hours and lack of sleep im getting twice as exhausted, but i think i could survive and go swimming, then just go to sleep early tomorrow at 6 or 7, iv done this before dozens of times and i remember thinking, this sucks, but i also remember the good feeling like, i get to sleep in a few hours, or the bad feeling like your throat burning( i always think its from the saliva in my throat, but maybe that’s just me?) or being so tired you can only sit in a chair and your head feels heavy from the fatigue, but one of the good things is you can appreciate sleep more, like its one of the best things in the world at the time. i don’t know, but iv wasted about 10 minutes writing all of this, and in that time iv decided to stay up, iv got enough to do anyway, and tomorrow all i have to do is go swimming. ya, I’m staying up all night, let you know how it goes tomorrow when i get back from the pool, just in case i decide to stay up all night again in the future, ill save this in a word doc to warn myself of the pain to come, or to make myself go to sleep to avoid it. hope this helps someone who can’t decide if it’s worth it or not. I’m gonna go see if anyone is awake or maybe I’ll just wake up a few people :P. part 2 coming soon.
the good thing about doing this is it’s easy, cheap and you can get a lot done, or finish something. i did it in the summer when i was up so late on my computer and i didn’t want to sleep coz it was like 4am so i stayed up through to the morning and had the day. the good thing was i was up so early before my whole family and i had breakfast, watched the sunrise and watched the recorded shows (on sky plus) before any one deleted them. the thing is though at about 8 o’clock i went to bed, NAKERD! and i didn’t wake up till like 8 the next day when my dad was like “we’re going to the cinema, get up!” for a while after that it took ages o get back into a normal sleeping regime again because after that movie i didn’t sleep because i had in effect, just woken up so yea it took ages but i’m OK now and i advise you do it but with a friend. i sort of did it with a friend for half of it because i was on msn and we both did it but i stopped talking to him at like 7am! lol!
its NOT worth it.. ull end up doing 1% of the work you’d do concentrated in day time..
I’ve stayed up all night, but always end up taking a nap during the following day.
I’ve done this several times, but now that I’m off the crack, I’m much happier with my sleep cycle. (hahahaha)
Been up for 33 hours and still counting and now I’ve promised my friends I’ll go out with them tonight. I actually think I’m going to die!! Stupid exams and stupid girl who didn’t go to any lectures. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I had to do this a lot during college, for lab write ups, all night cramming sessions, and when I just felt like goofing off with friends. It’s a little bit more bearable with friends, but the feeling is generally the same in all three instances: overwhelming feelings of nausea, screwed up sleeping schedule, inability to stay awake during class, and inability to sleep once you actually have the time to. Add to that the inability to concentrate during class, inability to eat (due to nausea), and it makes for a very mixed up body. That was my experience, though. But I wouldn’t recommend it.
I’ve done it twice and both times it was for a charity event. We had to stay up for 24 hrs. The last time I did it I worked friday, stayed up all friday/saturday night then worked Saturday.
I’m torn between saying not worth it and worth doing it. (I’ll stick with worth doing, might as well be optimistic) It was a lot of fun (50 people staying up all night playing games, movies etc.) but the next day you get so disorientated. Although you aren’t nearly as tired as you would think.
A friend and I stayed up all of two days and 1 1/2 nights (got up early one friday morning, went to bed at 12AM saturday night. Didn’t wake up until 6PM Sunday. A complete waste of time – your brains just slows down and you can accomplish nothing – your IQ becomes a negative number, I swear! Stick to the usual sleep patterns, people… don’t waste so much time.
