Finished ripping the Japanese CDs I have... 3 years ago

Except for the ones I cannot find… :(

    • Toshinobu Kubota – The Baddest
    • A female singer whose name I cannot remember… Sigh
    • An-J – For the single CD I waited a long time to find…

    Also I ripped the 11 Erasure CDs I have…

Ripped about 40 CDs 3 years ago

Inspired by June is Pet Shop Boys month, I not only ripped my 4 Pet Shop Boys CDs but also ripped about 40 CDs. I started with CDs from Japan. There is some complication because the information for the songs (titles, artist’s name, etc) is in Japanese, and for some reason, it usually doesn’t recognize them as Japanese characters and just stores garbled characters in the files… So I end up having to cut and paste the correct information in Japanese. Sort of a pain, but I probably got through about 3/4 of the Japanese CDs and even did a couple of French CDs, too.

I am using Windows Media Player 11, and it looks better graphically than Windows Media Player 10. Unfortunately, there do not seem to be album images for the Japanese CDs. I can dig up images later, though.

Using Windows Media Player may be part of the home theater set up. I tried Media Portal and also Yahoo’s version of Meedio, but neither of them seem to support Japanese characters. Obviously it doesn’t do any good when you can’t find the song you want to play.

In addition, since Windows Media Player can be used to sync to an mp3 player, it seems good to use the same software. Windows Media Player 11 also supports pictures in your library. However, I haven’t found yet how to use Windows Media Player for a slideshow while listening to your music at the same time. (A slideshow for pictures is the same as a playlist, so if you start your playlist for pictures, it stops your playlist for music.)

This not only includes CDs... 3 years ago

I also have a lot of MDs which were recorded from LPs.. Hmmmmm, remember those? I also have some LPs but considering I don’t have a working turntable, that doesn’t help.

I’ll have to find software which can allow me to convert analog input into either mp3 or wma format.
