I have been trying to make more small talk lately, but it really hasn’t been too successful. What I’m trying to do is force myself to start a small talk conversation at least twice a week with anyone that I don’t regularly speak to. It could be a co-worker, another parent at some of the school functions I attend with the kids, or just a stranger in line at the grocery store or something. It’s definitely not easy, but I am going to continue to try…

I am the worst at making small talk! I have so much trouble keeping up conversations with people and even worse trouble starting up chitchat. This is a pretty important thing that I need to learn so that people will stop thinking I’m arrogant or quiet. I’m actually not at all quiet, I can just never think of the right thing to say at the right time!! One of these days I’ll get it right…
Well I really suck at making small talk with people. I am a good story teller, but it is really hard for me strike up a meaningless little conversation with someone. It seems like I am always the listener rather than the talker, though many of my friends would disagree. It is just very hard for me talk about something I don’t find interesting, I guess. I think that this skill would help me be a lot more social, and help me make more friends.
