paint the bathroom

Ugh. I’ve had the paint sitting next to the tub for 2 weeks now. I think I need motivation. Okay, Kate, you want a new mirror for over the fireplace, right? You can go shopping for one if you paint the bathroom.

Gotta get this done. I have the paint, all masked off, primer is on the wall. I have six days to do it.

It took 11 months, but now it’s done!

This is all done except for the cover to the baseboard heater! The rust on it (yes, rust, despite the house being only 8 years old) is proving stubborn. I haven’t lifted a paintbrush, but made a bargain with my husband—I did all of the Christmas decorating and undecorating if he’d paint the bathroom. Of course, I would have ended up doing it all anyway, but hey, he agreed! So, almost ready to knock this goal off!

I have the wallpaper almost off after 2 years, good grief, then I have to sand and resurface it. It’s a smaller bathroom, fortunately. I think I don’t like my house and that’s what’s taking so long. We don’t entertain and are somewhat on the lonely side out here. Tend to go out more.

Can I count progress towards this goal if I’ve done none of it? All I’ve done is nag hubby to work on it (however, he is!). No painting yet—still cleaning mold off the walls so it can be dried and primed.

We picked a paint color back in February and bought the paint a few months ago, but haven’t done a thing since. All of the mold needs to be scrubbed off the walls and ceiling and I think the prospect of having to do that is what’s holding us up. Still, we’ve made a decision to start on this next weekend. I’d like to be done with this goal by Thanksgiving—that gives us a month.

I just kept putting it off even though I had the paint. It looks great.

Forgot primer, though. This will be done within a couple days.

Have done this many times, including stripping wallpaper. All those times you go into the bathroom and think about how you don’t like what you see really do weigh you down- and it’s cheap-and it only takes a day.
