It’s hard to do something so little and time consuming with a baby in my arms, or who always wants me – or better yet – who wakes up as soon as I get up from the bed, lol, but for a few nights I was able to sneak away and actually sit down and try this.
I like it! It’s fairly simple when you know what you’re doing, although if you use a small fabric, it can play tricks on your eyes to try and count where to begin your next stitch.
I don’t think I’ll become a die-hard cross stitcher any time soon, but it’s an enjoyable hobby I’ll probably return to when I have free hands more often. (:

I kind of guessed the instructions I got with my starter kit would be poor and I wouldn’t really get the idea of how to use it. They didn’t even say how to anchor the thread at the back of the project!
And on the grid, it says to start at the bottom of the grid, where the mark indicates the center… Except the mark is top center!
So much for that! I’ve always had a hard time understanding written instructions. I just need to see something being done and I’ll pick up on it. That’s how I learned to knit, just by watching my mom for a few minutes. Once I had the visual, I was able to understand how to cast on/off, knit/purl, bib, pick up lost stitches, etc.
So I went to youtube and watched a video there. Haha! I think I’ve got the idea now.

This is something I’ve wanted to do for some time, and so last night at Hobby Lobby I bought a small $1.99 beginning kit. It’s very small, only like 3×3 inches, and of a sunflower.

I have learnt to do this, and I am now very good and can complete quite advanced pieces. It’s a great hobby and is very relaxing.
