we want to move to portland or a place similar. we are long time vegetarians, nature lovers, and environmentalist who seek a place of beauty. a location that appreciates and values art. Portland seems to offer all of this, but we would be open to whatever the universe offers us in terms of like-minded places/people/energies. We need a place that resonates with who we are as humans. a place that brings out the best in both of us. a place where we can grow as artists and humans. 7 months ago
Life has never been easy but the last year and a half of mine has been particularly unbelievable. No need for an abundance of detail. The cliff notes are: husband reaches midlife crisis and cheats (after 22 years of marriage to the ogre and three wonderful kids),leading to bitter resentment, and financial ruin, etc, etc. However, every cloud has its silver lining and in the midst of an upheaval of my entire life I stumble across the man of my dreams. I had almost stopped hoping he could actually exist but I am now blissfully happy and a firm believer that dreams do come true – even if they take a couple of decades. The crazy part is that he’s half my age. But so what? When souls match…well…they just do! The incredible part is that he’s no more inclined to live the “white picket fence” life than I have ever been. (Though I allowed myself to be pushed into that existence until now) And while all the world was telling me that my dreams of living free of materialism, close to nature, and outside the realm of 9 to 5 drudgery were unrealistic fantasy, this man encourages me every day. WOW! What an amazing thing that is to me. Here is the goal. We desperately long to move to Portland where I want to write and he wants to make music. Success, by our standards, entails nothing more than the ability to live our lives doing what we love in a place we love. Us and everyone else? True enough. But why should that stop us? The obvious answer – money. What a drag. We’ve been trying so hard for a year to gather the funds for a cross country relocation. Unfortunately, life keeps throwing us curve balls and there have definitely been numerous occasions where we get pretty down about ever making it happen. We keep telling ourselves that it’s just a matter of time and perhaps we just have some more lessons to learn before the door opens. I figure there must be a multitude of other people facing the same dilemma. So here I am. Looking for some inspiration. Maybe some empathy or advice. Or even better – some stories of success. All of it is welcome as are any positive thoughts any of you may care to send out into the universe for us. And we are more than happy to send out the same for you. Best wishes to all. 23 months ago
