Lent starts the day after my birthday. Can I do 40 days of abstaining from something? And what? We want to go to Japan during Lent so I guess i can’t give up sushi or sake, so it seems a bit extravagent.
One year I gave up going for Starbucks for Lent… does that count? Does it matter if you aren’t catholic? Can I have pancakes for breakfast on my birthday?

Tri 4 days til the Bryan Adams concert!
I have definitely not been doing good at this for the last few weeks, and need to change that before Lent is over for the year!

Tri 4 days til the Bryan Adams concert!
This Lent I plan on going vegan, giving up junk food/chocolate and to read the Bible more/have a better relationship with God.
I did pretty good last year with observing Lent (only made a couple blunders), so we will see how good I can do this year!

Okay, so I bent a few rules that I had originally imposed on myself. But rules only cause pain; I mean, it’s more about the mindset, right? Anyway. I more or less followed these things:
1. Praying – first thing when I woke up, last thing before bedtime. It was usually too quick/last minute, though.
2. Fasting – Gave up AIM. The easiest part, surprisingly.
3. Giving – started helping out at my home church, which I haven’t done in a long, long time.
Gotta work on my relation with God, self, and others more, even after Lent!
And yes, this post is late.

kitrona is learning about neurotoxins and their medical applications!
Haven’t had any cloves since about day 2 of Lent, when I switched from chocolate, and I don’t plan to start again. :) Yay me!

I feel like it was worth it, and I feel like I have a renewed relationship with God.

Thanks to everyone in this community. This is was my first season to celebrate Lent and having this group to share it with has helped transform this season into something important and meaningful in my life.

cia007 is a "Romatic Spiritual Tree-Hugger!"
Although I called it a habit awhile back, I must say I have made the daily rosary goal daily all the way from Ash Wed to Easter! Thanks again Pete for all the encouragement!
