The major thing that’s so far held me back with this is my lack of friends who don’t live somewhere reasonably close to me. I realize part of the point of this is just the act of writing and keeping letters for their own sake; but it still seems better to send them where they actually need to be carried.
However, failing that I’ve decided to start writing them to my daughter. Because of the separation/divorce I only see her for half the week now (I’m not complaining, since many fathers only see their kids like two weekends a month). I have her Thursday through Sunday, so I figured it would be kinda cool to send her a letter each week which she read during our “off” days (she’s something of a daddy’s girl if you hadn’t figured that out : )
Plus it gives me an excuse to make the letters all girly cool with stickers and things 9 year olds would like!
