I really want to do this
How I did it: Looked at different suburbs within my price range to decide on where I wanted to buy. If you can't afford to buy where you want to live, accept the fact that you can't afford to live where you want just yet! Buy something affordable, and plan to upgrade in the future. You have to start somewhere, and the beginning is a good place :) I spent about a year trying to decide where to buy, because I didn't want to move to a cheaper area, but th… Read how I did it…

How I did it: Be really clear about what you need Be clear on what you won't compromise on Be clear on what you can afford monthly and whatyou're comgfortable paying Look hard, everywhere, as many places as possible Put in an offer and negotiate. Get financing Arrange utilities....... Arrange renovatons if needed Buy furniture Check lead times for everything and plan around it. Move in!!! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Moving back to my parents place to save money helped a lot. That helped me to pay off debts I had at the time, go on a big holiday, and then save for a deposit.I also subscribed to property search websites, where each day I would get an email with a list of property search results on apartments that met my criteria. It was motivating to get these emails because it was a reminder everyday on staying focused on what you want. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I moved home from college and moved in with my parents while I looked for places. I didn't just take the first option that came along. I talked to family and friends for advice and found a place that I could afford. Read how I did it…

I’ve had an offer accepted and have applied for a mortgage. I’m just waiting to hear that it’s all gone through ok now and then I will officially be a home-owner! Yay!
Make a list of requirements and “nice to haves”
Set a budget.
Organize our finances (separate goal)
Pre-view some apartments in areas where we’re interested
Refine requirements

I’m in negotiations to buy a flat at the moment, going back and forth with offers and counter-offers. I’ll be glad when this is all over!!

I suppose I just feel like owning a place, something I can call my own, makes me feel like I am really taking care of myself (or ourselves, since I’m married). That we have a grounded place in the world. I can do whatever I want to the place—paint, artworks, etc etc…and it’s okay.
I am years and years away from affording a down payment (having extra savings for an emergency is SO much more important than owning a place to live). Looking at the lovely photos of beautifully decorated apartments in real estate ads is fun, but it makes me feel bad because others my age can afford them but I can’t. I don’t need to figure out my price range or what neighborhood I want to live in just yet – I don’t even have a down payment fund started. There are other things I need to save for first.
- I want to have my own space and be able to decorate it (paint it, hang pictures)
- I want to feel like there is somewhere that is mine and where I can stay as long as I want.
- Over the long, long term, it will be cheaper than renting.
I want to own an apartment rather than a house because I don’t really need that much space and I live in an urban area. I was always hoping to own a place to live before I turned 30, but now I think my goal is to do so before I turn 35. So difficult to save money!

I want to have my own place to make a home with my boyfriend-husband.It should be beautiful and quite, not necessary big but comfortable, must have many windows with a spectacular view. I want to weak up in the morning with my love at mi side, listen to the birds singing and see the sun rising over the city every dawn, inspiring me to do my best every day… Our apartment will be cool in the hot days and warm when the weather becomes rainy and colder. In the living-room I want to have just a coach or two puff and a fluffy carpet, a very minimalistic style with so much space and almost without furniture, with a mirror wall to give a more spacious sensation and to practice my dance movements! In the kitchen-dinning room the style will change from minimalistic to practical, with all the stuff that make life easier, and make possible to success in having too many meetings with family and friends :) in the home studio I would like to have a room for computers and book shields, a room to think and learn…and finally the bedroom, it should be the coolest room!, again with a minimalistic style, painted in neutral-warm colors, with a beautiful bed, really smooth, with many pillows, a place designed just for rest and love…I almost forget the bathroom, this is an important place when we spend a lot of our time daily, definitely I´d love to have a jacuzzi or a bath tube, I can imagine a relaxing bath with delicious smells of aromatherapy, a soft light of the candles and good music playing in the background, and of course the company of that special person massaging my back with a soft sponge making the perfect place to end a hard work day.
What with the credit crunch, it has now become even more difficult to get on the property ladder, but hopefully someday soon…
