Get back into painting

Just like mediation, this makes me feel like me. Because I got into it on my own and was actually pretty damn good at it.

being a computer graphics artist, i’m kinda living my dream by getting paid for doing something i love (and also happens to be my main talent).

the drawback is i’m only doing what the client wants. and by the time i’m finished with work, i would rather do something else (cycling, drinking w/friends, whatever) to pass the time. so i rarely get to work on anything personal.

i want to be an artist again.

Since time and space have prohibited me to actually go out and paint, I have been creating by hand many pieces of pixel art work in PaintShop Pro. It’s been fun and challenging, yet is it painting? I am using color and a brush, though both are digital.

Any thoughts?

I grew up painting. Creating was (is) as much a part of me as breathing.

Where did it all go? I miss it.

I have just bought this book (recommended by a fellow 43 things user). I’m hoping it will help me get over my artist’s block!

I got back into painting…That is not very easy because you always have to push further, to continue practising…That’s not easy for me because I’m lazy and I’m not inspired everytime, but It is important to practise even when you don’t have ideas, just to see if you can do something…Maybe you’ll paint 5 minutes or 3 hours. The more important is to try !!!

i love painting. i just totally escape when im doing it. ive decided to try my hardest to do a little painting each day till its second nature…first i gotta get the paints and an eisle..or however u spell it

Well, I got an idea the other night. It’s not very developed, but I thought if I just started painting something, then the ideas would come. The idea has developed a bit more now, but I’m not sure how I’m going to execute it. I’m too paranoid about not creating something great, rather than just painting because I want to and not worrying about the result. I hate that!

Well, my paints have finally arrived from overseas, and I have some canvases now ready to go, so I have no excuses left. Now I really need to get some inspiration so I can actually paint something! This weekend I endeavour to go through the folder I have where I keep pictures and ideas that I like. Hopefully this will spark some ideas for me.

All my paints and canvases etc should be arriving tomorrow from overseas, so then I can start painting. (Once I get some inspiration!)
