Cable Satellite was my first provider and they serviced my area for many years with relatively few problems. Then Atlantic Broadband took over a few years ago; it’s been nothing but problems. I lose service often (few times a month). When I changed my name on the contract, they changed the contract number but did not send me a notification. But when they received my payment they credited it to the closed account and sent me a nasty letter about non-payment on the new account. No amount of phone calls or written letters could resolve the issue and I ended up paying a late fee.
I received a letter this week stating that my plan is being discontinued and the equivalent plan is an additional $30.00!
I’m looking for a replacement for this very un-professional company, but so far I hear negative things about satellite service getting disrupted whenever it rains (this is Miami! it rains daily).

i must add to this: “and find time to sit and actually watch TV instead of turning it on for the noise and then doing Other Things like reading or dishes or organizing my cooking magazines or…..”

I’ll just have to enjoy the three channels I have.

I’m not really sure that this was worth it. I got cable TV – cheapest possible cable – because the installer for my internet said it’d make my internet cheaper.
Yeah, by A DOLLAR.
I barely ever watch TV at home – in fact, I’ll be getting rid of my TV before moving – so it was kind of not worth it.
Having digital cable at the new place, however, will be awesome.

I have cable now, and can watch tv. It’s better than nothing, but not really worth the money it costs

I’ve had cable for a week almost now… it’s nice since I have a DVR and I got to watch the new episode of the only show I follow when I got home from work at 3 AM…
It’s cool to have TV. I like having a home phone. I rarely use the internet connection (which I thought I would use most of all)
Oh well. I reached my goal at least.

I got cable today, in fact at this moment, I’m typing this from home, where I just got internet. I’m both over- and under-whelmed. I want to watch everything that’s on while sitting online and talking on my phone, for lack of doing any of those things,b ut at the same time, I’m not actually interested in watching TV at this moment, and I’ve got no one to call…
hence, the internet I suppose…

On tuesday, the cable company will come. That’s great because then I’ll have TV, internet and phone. It’s bad because I kind of liked not having TV. Phone and internet will be really good things, but I’m worried I won’t actually do anything after I get it, that I’ll spend to much time watching it (unlikely) or so little time it won’t be worth the money (more likely). To add to both those concerns, I’m not actually sure I make enough money I can continue to put some away and still pay for it.
I know I want it and I want to get it, but I’m seriously conflicted!

So craigslist came through for me. I got a little lost trying to find the people, but I am now the proud owner of a TV.
Bringing it into the apartment I looked around and wondered if the thing was too big for the space I have. Any smaller, and it would be very little, so I’ll say it was a good choice, and I certainly can’t argue with the price. Getting cable (with internet and phone) is not going to be cheap. Mostly I think the installation is going to kill me since all I’ve found is one phone jack in the whole apartment and no wires for cable.
I’m tempted to save the money and not bother, but at the same time I know that the longer I go without internet the less intouch I am. A package is just the better choice… right?

So I found a 45$ tv on craigslist… and after exchaing a couple e-mails while the guy explains he has someone else who wants it, I got an e-mail today that it’s mine!
Now I have to figure out where I’m going to pick it up, but other than that it’s all good.
(and I have to consider just how heavy a 19” TV is… because I have two flights of steps to my atp…)
I have the flier for the cable company in my apartment. So, maybe some time next week I’ll meet this goal! (And I’ll have internet so I can talk to my friends, and a home phone, so I can call people without burning my cell minutes!) WOOT!
