My first 5.11 lead was the classic Lovely Arette(.11a) at Jackson Falls, Il. 5.11 still is definately my leading limit and requires multiple tries. We’re talking about sport climbing here. 5.11 trad makes my balls shrink to the size of raisins.
i have top roped and lead a 5.11
i was soo happy when i got to the top on lead for the first time. i usually lead only in like a gym and there i will lead whatever (hard or easy). but outside..oh man..i get soo scared to lead. but i did it! i got to lead a 5.11.
so proud!
it was kind of anti-climatic, but a very fun route. next time, i hope to lead it! i guess the best would be to onsite…well, this made me realize that it’s good to have a climbing goal, but i think there’s more to climbing than climbing hard. not all routes have the proper challenge..i want to bag a route i’m really proud of..
