I took a year off work on parental leave and took care of our second child. My wife was a stay-at-home-mum. We swapped roles and she went to work. I watched the two girls at home as well as be chef, nutritionist, cleaner, diaper expert, clothing consultant, hair braider, taxi service, accountant, network guru and many other other things my wife would do at home. I’m exhausted and it has it’s moments, but it’s been AMAZING!! Kinda like Outward Bound, but at home. No regrets. No, not one. It all ends in November ‘06, and I’m going to be miss it all.
I am now working part time from home and I like it I like being with my boy and making him lunch.
It’s only 3 days a week and some times I have to bring him into the office with me but he’s really good about it…
Well it looks like I will be becoming at least a part time stay at home dad. My oldest is in half day school so he needs some one to drop him off and pick him up. anyway I have setup a deal with my business that I work from home and I will come in for ~2 hours everyday and pick up what ever stuff I need for the day and dropp off the completed projects the following day.
I just hope it worls out and doesn’t cause problems…
Kristin just went back to work for the first time today… my first solo day. It’s astounding how the sequence of really simple, mundane tasks that make up infant care can combine into one miraculous day.
I think to be able to take my boy to school. Be there to pick him up at lunch. Spend time with him at home. Even hang out with his little brother too. Me and my boys…. my poor wife.
As of Januaryish, I’ll be a stay-at-home dad with my new baby girl!
I have just one thing to say. I not only wear the pants but my wonderful wife lets me….. Really it’s fantastic to stay at home with the children. The wife and I wouldn’t have it any other way
