learn more about computers

Hi every body, I want to learn about every thing of the microprocessor and nvidia graphic card

I AM USING TIME WELL

Today my laptop made that squealing sound again but this time I knew it was bad Vista hurting him.
My laptop is just over a year old, has been to the shop twice, and they threatened me that they were going to charge me next time, even if I show up while it’s still under warranty.
Charge me again for their idiotic OS I payed for already? For not giving me the right BIOS until I asked for it? Well OK.
Kubuntu has just been installed and I don’t think I’ll look back.

in the last few days, computer wise.
I’m pretty good at understanding how a particular software works, but I’m scared of all those protocols, adjustabilities and dependencies that go on inside this thin little box that’s been to the doctor’s twice already, and has barely started living. :-)

1. actually understand all those messages that pop up on my screen
2. actually understand all those sounds my computer makes
1a,1b. know what to do having read or heard the above mentioned
3. be able to fix something that goes wrong
4. actually understand conversations people sometimes have about computers, software, connections, etc.
5. be able to buy a proper piece of equipment for my PC without standing like a moron in the store and staring at the sales person like they’ve just started speaking in tongues

Maybe a college course.

Maybe I can take a computer class, I know Mac has those classes and even one on one lessons. Anyone know if any other companies are offering classes too?

I am trying to learn how to make my computer faster can someone help me get started. It just runs very slow and sometimes it will just stop and I will need to hold down the power button until it restarts.

I have loved computers since i was about 10 years old. I am really interested in them. I want to learn all i can about them.

OK, this comes under the heading of “be careful what you wish for”, right?

After a rather long and fraught procedure and the loss of a few files which thankfully were mostly backed up on disc…we are now in possession of a new hard drive.

OK, it’s my husband who’s been doing all the fiddling inside things, but I’ve learned a fair amount about how complex these beasts are. And how I don’t think this is ever something I want to do for a living.

Right now, if someone geekier than myself would be pleased to explain to me the ins and outs of under EXACTLY what circumstances we can legally re-install XP – because the EULAappears to imply it’s possible in cases such as this, but from the hassle we’re getting it appears otherwise – I would be very pleased to learn.

Heck, for that I’d happily send a quart of tiramisu ice-cream through the post…well, maybe not through the post but you get my drift.
