At my workplace, people who are CPR certified can join a company emergency response team. If there is ever an injury or illness at work, the volunteers on the team are alerted by phone and told where to go so they can begin CPR or first aid while waiting for the ambulance.
Yeah yeah, it’ll get me more recognition at work and make me a more “valuable” employee, but the real reason is the empowerment to do something helpful in a dangerous situation and help someone. I’m such a sucker for stuff like that. <3

I learned CPR online! I took a course at Online First Aid and CPR Certification. I think the page is http://firstaidcpronline.com/CPR.htm and it was cool. I read how to do it, then watched a couple of videos and took a test. Passed it! Now, I’m a life-saving machine! Heh. : )

i’m surprised it’s not easier to find the american heart association’s basic “family & friends cpr” class. their class locator finds three pages of training centers in my area, none of which are offering it. it’s all classes which include first aid training, classes for healthcare providers, etc. i’ll keep looking, but guess i may have to settle for more class than i want. :-\

As I was reading through the entries for other people learning CPR, I read about people who spoke to HR and were reimbursed.
I work for the State Government and I know they have all sorts of classes and employee training. Next week I plan to look through their directory of classes. If CPR isn’t offered, I’ll go talk to my HR representative about possible reimbursements.

I found CPR classes in my city! If I have to I’ll go on my own, but it would be more fun to learn CPR with someone I know. My husband Jonathan isn’t interested in taking CPR classes with me, but maybe I can convince my friend at work to go with me.
Through my work, I talk with a lot of people who are CPR certified and it seems like a really useful skill to have. Plus, we have an AED machine on every floor. I think learning CPR would make me feel more prepared in case of an emergency, and make me feel more capable. I like to be prepared for all possibilities and I like the idea of being able to help my family and friends if necessary, and random strangers of course.

Shatae addicted to achievement
Later this year I plan to take the most comprehensive class available in my area. The cost is $95 (what a low cost to be able to save a life!).
The class is called: Standard First Aid with CPR/AED – Adult and Child plus Infant CPR
You learn to perform CPR, First Aid, and use a AED for adults, children, and infants. The class is offered once a month in my area and is from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
There are other classes available do only CPR for Adults and don’t include the First Aid and AED training for around $55.

Pancemaster is measuring her worth by things that dont matter
I simply want to learn CPR for the sake of knowing how. I don’t need it for anything in particular, but maybe it would help me get a job knowing some medical safety skills. I’m looking for a center to teach in my area at the moment.

in order to work summer childrens’ programs at the rock gym where I work. It took 8 hours over two days (Wilderness First Aid was included), but was totally relaxed and chill. Now I can save a life, which is a cool feeling…
