finish my CIPD course

I decided there were a couple of goals I had related to this so will put under the same overarching goal. In order to complete this I will:

- Complete my Management Report by March 2010
- Submit my knowledge statement by end November 09
- Submit assignment 2 by end December 09
- Re-write assignment 1 by end January 2010
- Notify that I wish to sit exam by mid January 2010
- Sit my exam in February 2010

I spent the best part of last week in various course workshops. I need to decide on my management report and just finish the last module now. I am going to be a good student for this last part. I promise myself!

Have applied and the final year begins this month and ends in October….

I attended the first of 5 tutorials for the first element of my course yesterday. Hoorah. It was thoroughly intimidating and is going to be challenging, possibly not in a good way. No pain, no gain! It will be interesting anyway. Open learning is going be be tough. Two years to go!

I have received 3/4 of my correspondence workbooks and texts now. This is fabulously exciting. Unfortunately, the 1/4 I have not received is for the module which starts next week (oooh!). My homework is to read workbook 1 and a chapter of an employment law book which is circling at the whim of the Royal Mail. Nevertheless I am excited in principle. When the reality of sitting doing homework instead of nice things hits me I suspect I won’t feel so rosy about it all. ‘Exam’ is a banned word until May. Scary thought indeed after so many years.

I completed stage I of my CIPD in 2000 then was overwhelmed by work and dropped out of the second stage. This November, I will be starting stage II again by correspondence. Being only part-qualified, there’s a limit to which companies will employ you in resonsible roles. I’m at that limit.

The course will take 2 years minimum but I’m excited (as well as very nervous).
