I’ve never been a big guy, but I signed up for the gym this january. I have a small tummy that I want to get rid of, but I’ve been on and off with my habits. I wanna get fit for the summer!
How to work out 4 times a week
How I did it: I went a little above and beyond on this one by training for a half-marathon. But signing up for the race was really good motivation to get going on this goal. It made running consistently a priority, and I do very well with a structured training plan. I signed up for another one just so that I'll keep going.
Lessons & tips: Signing up for a race gives you a goal to work toward. Have friends keep you accountable, or even work out with a friend. Set reasonable goals--you'll give up right away if you try to do too much all at once.
Resources: Sign up for a race with charity! You'll be helping out a good cause, and you'll have extra motivation to get moving every day. I personally recommend Team in Training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I haven’t been to the gym in a few months now. I stoped going because Coral was pregnant and I wanted to be at home as much as possible in the last few months of the pregnancy. Baby Jason is a week old now and I’m exhausted from the long nights with him. I’m going to try to go to the gym 2 or three times next week, and work my way back up to my previous habit of 4-6 times a week.
I’ve really been blowing this goal. Since school started a couple of weeks ago, this has just been incredibly tough—I’m lucky if I make it out there once a week. Sure, I’m doing a lot more walking around campus which should help, but definitely not what it should be.
This week was a total bust. I think I only went running once. Did a lot more walking with taking the bus to campus, but the stress and busy-ness is really going to take its toll on this goal for the next couple of months now that things are picking up. sigh
Barely got in 4x last week, since I’m counting walking around Chicago all weekend as 2x. Went today, so I have one in for this week already.
I was doing really well about working out in the beginning of the year, but last month I fell away from it because I got busy with a class. I need to get back into the habit again. 4 times a week! Here I come!
