So nervous, yet exhilerated! 1 week ago

I’m finally leaving Phoenix in 4 weeks after living here for 8 years. The plan is to move first to Washington, D.C, to live rent-free with my sister while I apartment/job-hunt in the New York area.

Currently I am researching Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods, looking for roommates to replace me in my current home, possibly placing my pets with people I know and trust, and selling all my stuff that I can. I just took out surplus student loan money (I’m taking online grad courses—extra mobile!) which will fund my adventure until I get a job.

Why am I nervous? I’ll be moving to the most intense city in the world where I won’t know a soul. I plan to join meetup groups and volunteer places so that I can be social and have that human connection. Also, I will be searching for fairly social roommates who enjoy heading to the City on weekends, because what’s the point of being in your 20s in New York if you don’t live and love your city?

New York fever... 2 weeks ago

I’ve been stuck in a little county in Georgia for most of my life. I’m sick of it and looking for somewhere new, somewhere beautiful like NYC.

My Plan:

1. Graduate Valedictorian from high school. This isn’t hard, as I’m ranked 1st, and I’m graduating this May.

2. Go to University of Georgia. HOPE Scholarship will cover essentially all of my costs, since I’m kinda poor. I’ll spend four years there in Athens, and leave with a bachelour’s degree in… I’ll choose soon. :)

3. Attend a graduate school in New York City.

4. While working towards Master’s degree, have a job… Maybe work as a T.A.? I should be able to find some work.

5. I would be living in New York at this time, so the list is done with. Now, time to enjoy the greatest city in the world.

NYC or Bust 3 weeks ago

People have told me my whole life that I should move to New York, that it’d suit me. I finally got the chance to stay a little while there and now I can say they were right: NYC is the only place that’s truly ever felt like “home.”

I’m receiving my Bachelor’s degree soon, and have been checking the online job sites without any luck for a job in NYC. I really have no idea how I’m going to get there, I haven’t any money saved up, and only know really about one person who I can’t live with.

I’m going to find a way though. I’m newly reinspired by the stories I’ve been reading here.

Move to New York 1 month ago

Next year on February 16. I have set the date that I want to leave New Zealand for New York City.

I am having problems with saving my money though at the moment. But I’m putting a stop to that today!

I called the travel company the other day and arranged for them to look into some flights to New York.

NYC! 1 month ago

By the time I’m 23, I should have an apartment in the city, eventually moving my way up to move into Manhattan. YES!

I've decided to go this summer 1 month ago

I’m going to move to New York or bust. I’m so sure that I have butterflies from the sheer idea of it. My mind is racing with the possibilities and the what if’s. I’m reading entries from people who’ve done this and I’m getting so excited. I’m ready to tell the Bay Area good bye and live out my dream of living in New York. I’ve never wanted anything so bad. I’m hella excited (bay area speak) I plan to live in a hostel for a while, until I find a job and or a place to sublet. I’m gonna be so proud of myself. I haven’t felt this way in a long time. NYC, I love you, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
